SERVICES
RAYS operates under the belief that SLS services should be delivered in a way in which the end
result of the person receiving services is specialized and unique to the individual, follows all
mandates and is an enjoyable and successful experience. Each person’s journey will be different
but will mirror an end result to that of anyone else acquiring and living in a home of their own.
People receiving services, just as those who are not, should have the same general way in which
to meet the same end. With this in mind, RAYS follows the guidelines of Title 17 Section 58614
to provide the following assistance:

Building and maintain interpersonal relationships, including a Circle of Support
Participating in community life
24-hour emergency assistance, including direct service in response to calls for assistance.
Acquiring, using, and caring for canine and other animal companions specifically trained to provide assistance
Managing personal financial affairs
Recruiting, screening, hiring, training, supervising, and dismissing personal attendants
Dealing with and responding appropriately to governmental agencies and personnel
Asserting civil and statutory rights through self-advocacy
Acquiring household furnishings
Locating and choosing suitable house mates
Selecting and moving into a home
Becoming aware of and effectively using the transportation, police, fire, and emergency help available in the community to the general public
Daily activities such as meal preparation, meal planning, shopping, cooking and
safe storage
Assistance with routine household activities aimed at maintaining a clean and safe environment
Locating and scheduling appropriate medical services
Acquiring, using, and caring for canine and other animal companions specifically trained to provide assistance
